Transit Plans
How is it that Orlando can articulate a transportation plan that integrates fast-rail with light-rail with aviation and we can’t? Tampa International Airport has plans for rail coming right to the airport terminal but the best that our County can do with light-rail is a proposed route from downtown Tampa to West Shore somewhere “near the airport” requiring transfer to a bus to get to TPA.
By all calculations, transit will be quicker from downtown Tampa to the Orlando airport than to our own airport. There is a bigger disconnect here than just transportation.
To paraphrase the twisted logic of the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland; Money first — plan afterwards.
