How many jobs?

At a public meeting last night on the so-called I-4 Green Tech Corridor I heard that the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners’ goal is long term economic development along Interstate 4. Their strategy is incentivizing the growth of commercial property “inventory” there.

I would have thought that given the rate of local unemployment that their goal should instead be near-term high-wage job growth throughout Hillsborough County. Their strategy should be incentivizing businesses to utilize existing space to bring jobs here now.

Please ask your County Commissioner:

  • In the 1-year since the Economic Stimulus Task Force was started, how many jobs have been created?
  • In the 2-years since the I-4 Corridor Study was started, how many jobs have been created?
  • In the 3-years since the Transportation Task Force was created, how many jobs have been created?
  • In the how-many-years each of the Commissioners has been in office, how many jobs have been created? How many jobs have been lost or cutback?
