Myths of Light-Rail Transit

The pro-rail group in Tampa has gathered a $1 million ad budget to sell the concept of light-rail for downtown. Many of the supporters will benefit through selling their services to The County, while we taxpayers get to pay for it, whether rail lives up to the promises or not.

Where is the public discussion of the issues surrounding light-rail for Tampa? Enhanced and expanded bus service certainly has value to the entire community and certain roadways will need “fixing” over the next 20 years just to handle more people with cars.

Take a look at some discussion points in this Light-Rail Transit Study. Then ask questions before you vote, otherwise you are just following the wishes of those with the deeper pockets.
