Forbes speaks out against rail
Remember that Forbes report a few years ago that placed Tampa last when it came to transportation? Tampa was clustered around the bottom with other cities in the South mostly because of the weather. Fewer pedestrians and bicycle riders and bus riders at uncovered bus stops as well as the heat stick in traffic.
The August 30 2010 Forbes magazine Fact and Comment has a piece by Steve Forbes entitled Railroading the Taxpayer. It goes at great length to debunk the myths of high-speed rail between Tampa and Orlando. It is a money pit.
Forbes also blasts light-rail for also being a money pit that underserves the taxpayers.
We need to rethink light-rail for Tampa. By 2012 we might figure out how to do it right.
