The “pitch” for the Tampa Choo-Choo

So far the Tampa rail project’s “pitch” is little better than a sideshow barker pitching the half-woman/half-man. Once you pay you find out it is all just makeup and costume. Do we trust our County to tax and spend $180 MILLION to $600 MILLION yearly on this pitch?

If transportation was so important to the BOCC, why is it that only less than 1% of the last sales tax increase went to improve our bus service? And we are STILL paying for that one. Many millions of dollars went to Ken Hagan task force consultants just to tell The County which roads to improve first, as if we didn’t already know the answer.

Let’s first use the existing CIT tax that we are still paying for and wait until the 2012 ballot to see if we get better answers on what’s in it for us.
