Uninvited guests – County needs to say NO, Now!

Home theft

How is it that the Hillsborough County property appraiser’s office is aiding and abetting the “adverse possession” of county taxpayers’ homes?

Start by having the guts to just say NO to anyone coming into a county office trying to file such documents. Immediately revoke documents of all such filings.

Next, evict, post haste, anyone living in any of these homes.
Adverse possession until perfected (7 years) terminates when the rightful owner discovers the possession (pays outstanding taxes) and demands abandonment.

Finally, charge the crime of breaking and entering, to anyone who changed or caused to have changed door locks on homes they do not own.

No one should have to file suit to get back what they clearly own.
Let those who would take what is not theirs file suit.
That would stop it now.

ProcrastinatinHillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Larry McKinnon is quoted by the Tampa Tribune as saying they have asked the STATE attorney’s office to press charges.
Larry, what about the COUNTY Attorney’s office?
What about CITY attorney’s offices?

McKinnon goes on to say that perpetrators of  illegal possession will be “brought in for prosecution AT SOME POINT.”

Larry, that point is NOW.

The Mission of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is to serve, protect, and defend the community while preserving the rights and dignity of all.

Stop the hand-wringing.
Get off your collective butts and protect those who pay your salaries.

Sadly, the owner of record is the entity that gets the responsiblity with all paying for clean-up and all damages and legal fees, in most cases.

This sort of disregard for others’ properties happens every day, with trashing dumping on vacant properties…CODE ENFORCEMENT ONLY HAS THE NAMES OF THE OWNERS…not the perpetrators.

I worked on this problem for years with just the CODE ENFORCEMENT FOR VACANT LOTS. Yes, we finally got a “depute dumpster”, and surveillance occurred with night VISION cameras. Cases were made and fines were collected from those breaking the laws.

It is ALL NEIGHBORHOODS problems…vigilence with neigbors and reporting ANY STRANGE ACITIVITY…. THE “NOT MY BUSINESS” REALLY IS YOUR BUSINESS TO PROCTECT AND WATCH YOUR NEIGHBOR’ PROPERTY…The neghborhood watch programs worked. THE BEST PROTECTION IN ANY NEIGHBORHOOD IT THE NOSY-ROSY NEIGHBOR.

  2. Marilyn Smith Says:

All neighborhoods must reinstitute the NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAMS.

A nosy-rosy neighbor is the BEST PROTECTION..Nothing is better than a neighbors watching each others propety.

SADLY, it is easier to find the owner of a property to hang costs onto, sinc the perpetrators are not hanging around to get caught.

NEIGHBORS NEED TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES……WE HAVE LESS AND LESS LAW ENFORCEMENT TO CHASE A PERP RUNNING AWAY WITH THE PROPERTY BELONGING TO THE HOME OWNER WHO IS OUT OF TOWN,OR MAYBE GONE TO WORK..
