Tampa-Hillsborough 3rd world country?

Mwamanongu Village water source, Tanzania. &qu...

Tanzania or Tampa?

The leaders of the City of Tampa and the County of Hillsborough all talk about attracting high-end companies to locate here and tout how wonderful it is to live and work here, yet they both let a festering open wound remain untreated.

Stuck between these two great local governments, the tiny communities of East Lake, Orient Park, Egypt Lake and Palm River suffer with unclean drinking water because the city and county will not come together to solve what most 3rd world countries have managed to solve.

If there is not enough shame to bring the two sides into agreement about a solution for adequate drinking water,  an economic incentive might be persuasive.

Every day now we see in the news, masses of North African citizens peacefully demonstrating for more responsive governments and leaders. How would the present mayor and city council of Tampa, county commissioners and the several candidates for office react to thousands of protesters in a public square in downtown Tampa?

How would it play in the national, and perhaps the world news media of a peaceful demonstration in Tampa for clean drinking water?

This situation has to be resolved now by our elected representatives, or be resolved by public opinion and the opinions of corporate re-locators who could easily choose a more enlightened community in which to create jobs.

  2. there has to be a way to help them out. It’s a mess and it’s way over due for this to have been fixed.

Another fine mess while everyone talks about spending money for trains. $800,000 for a golf cart overpass which is not ciritical and in an area that could afford a special taxing district if they really want it. In fact, Walmart should have paid for it. Now add on top of the $280,000 for a road crossing and golf cart path. So a million dollars. to ride a golf cart to wwalmart. The $280,000 came from an emergency fund for critical corrections.

My point is we have money for everything thing else but not this????- Bob Gordon was famous for that…pulling money from other areas to make a Commissioner happy.

This county is in pathetic shape in many ways. The Commissioners and power brokers should realize there is more to why companies aren’t coming here.

THE TAMPA HILLSBOROUGH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CCORPORATION WILL BE PRESENTING ITS ACHIEVEMENTS ON BOCC AGENDA MAR. 2/2011. This is an ideal setting to announce THE WATER PROBLEMS AND WHICH COMPANIES WOULD LIKE TO COME TO TAMPA TO OPEN THERE BUSINESS IN THE THIRD WORLD WATER SUPPLY. PALM RIVER, EAST LAKE, ORIENT PARK.

THE COST OF THE THIRD WORLD WATER IS AT LEAST 25% MORE THAT REGULAR PRICES IN CITY OF TAMPA. Annexation works really for the city to get those property taxes and then deliver UNHEALTHY SERVICES.
YES, THEDC NEEDS TO TOUT THAT IN THEIR REPORT.

I AM SURE I AND ANYONE ELSE WITH THIS KNOWLEDGE WOULD BE WELCOME WITH OPEN ARMS BY HAGAN AND HIS THEDC COSTLY @ $950,000.00 to
    PRESENTATION OF ACHEIVEMENTS…..LOL

  4. This community has had to accept the unacceptable for too long!
    It’s truly outrageous.

  5. Hillsborough Taxpayer Says:

Remember THREE candidates who are currently running for Mayor of Tampa…Turancik, Ferlita, and SCOTT all sat on the BOCC and did NOTHING to help Palm River Residents with water problems. Scott represented this district and was brought into this discussion back in 1996.
