Law-Maker Representative Michele Bachmann

Associated Press today quotes Michele Bachmann as saying that as president, she would immediately slash the nation’s debt, rule out tax increases and cut regulations.

Excuse me Michele, but aren’t you a member of Congress, now?

Back in high school civics class, I learned that Article One of the United States Constitution gives congress (you Michele)

  • “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States” and
  • “The Power – To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.”

Among those foregoing Powers, is that “All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives”.

So Michele, why are you waiting to make laws?
Make laws now.

Write your debt, tax and regulation bills now, and get them passed by the house, senate and signed into law by the President, now.

If “the people” are behind you, as you say,
you can make your laws and changes now.

You don’t have to wait until after 2012 to spell out exactly how you would change the laws.
Change the laws now.

Never mind, that as President you would then be at the end of the law-passing process, not at the beginning, as you are now.
